Come and learn the basics of shibari with me in this 1 week online beginner course. The course starts on February 22nd, and you will receive one lesson a day for a week. I will be teaching technical rope bondage skills but also something I feel lacks in most teaching modules - embodiment and intimacy through rope. You will practice self-tying and develop your skills and knowledge.
Shibari - the Japanese art of rope bondage - can look beautiful and is often visually associated with yoga or dance. However, it's important to know that it is an experience that can involve discomfort and intensity.
Shibari isn't necessarily a sexual practice. It can evoke different emotions and sensations, and it can involve various dynamics. It can be erotic, intimate, tormenting, playfully fun and light, or heavy and emotionally intense. It all depends on you and your partner. Shibari (and rope in general) is a tool. Yes, it's a tool that supports connection, intimacy, and vulnerability between two people.
Shibari doesn't always mean suspension. Yes, suspension brings strong sensations and is often a quick way to reach sub space. It is often more painful and uncomfortable than being tied on the floor, and it involves a sense of separation and turning inward. I often say that if I want to experience things within myself, I want suspension, but if I want connection, I prefer tying on the floor. Floor based tying can be much more intimate and powerful in its interaction with a partner.
Forget about spending weeks learning knots before you get to the good stuff. In my classes, you're playing with rope from day one.
You might find yourself getting unexpectedly emotional as you tie yourself ... or feel super present and embodied. Some people get turned on. Others feel this deep calm they haven't felt in years.
I've watched students discover their dominant side...their craving to surrender... their curiosity about control. All completely normal. All welcome.
This isn't about perfecting technique. It's about discovering what rope is for you.
Yes, we'll learn technique - this is the foundation of every safe shibari tie. But we'll also dive into the embodiment, emotions, pleasure, and ties you can actually use right away.
By day 4, you'll already be creating ties that ground you and give you pleasure. By day 7, you'll understand why people get obsessed with this art form.

Beginners in shibari or people who want to refresh their basic knowledge. This is a self tying class.
Most shibari courses require a partner. This one doesn't. This course covers the basics of shibari, while you tie yourself. It is meant for discovering your own pleasure through shibari, discover how embodied the practice could be and enjoy learning the basics without any pressure from a partner. There will be a partnered course as a build up on top of this one.
So no - you don't need a partner to join.
As this is an online course and its very practical - yes, you will need ropes.
Shibari can be sexual, and this course is build around you enjoying your own erotic energy and building intimacy with yourself. There might be erotic feeling and you might be enjoying your own arousal and desire. You will be touching your body and slowing down and of course desire and arousal are welcome. If you feel particularly inspired you may continue in the sexual realm.
